The post-show conversation brought together artists, theater professionals, and audience members for an engaging discussion about the creative process behind the production and the importance of developing and producing original Latine musical theater works.
Moderated by Brisa Areli Muñoz, Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory and a member of the EL MUSICAL Advisory & Mentorship Board, the discussion featured distinguished members of the creative team, including Rosal Colón, Director of The Wedding March; Desmar Guevara, Musical Director; and Rosalba Rolón, Founding Artistic Director of Pregones/PRTT.
The conversation explored the artistic journey of bringing The Wedding March to the stage, the role of memory and cultural identity in musical storytelling, and the importance of creating space for Latine voices within the American theater landscape.
“We are grateful to Pregones/PRTT and the entire creative team for opening their doors and sharing their process with our community,” said Dr. Manuel A. Morán, Founder of EL MUSICAL and Artistic Director of Teatro SEA. “One of EL MUSICAL’s goals is to foster meaningful dialogue between artists and audiences while celebrating the remarkable work being created by Latine musical theater makers across the country.”
The event also highlighted the strong partnership between EL MUSICAL and leaders in the field of new musical development. Both Rosalba Rolón and Brisa Areli Muñoz serve on EL MUSICAL’s Advisory & Mentorship Board, helping guide the initiative’s mission to nurture and elevate the next generation of Latine musical theater artists.
Audience members remained after the performance to engage directly with the artists, asking questions about the show’s development, musical language, cultural relevance, and future life beyond the current production.
The LET’S TALK series is part of EL MUSICAL’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for conversation, mentorship, and community-building around Latino and Latine musicals. Additional post-show conversations and artist engagement events will be announced throughout the year.
